DASHA TRAVNIKOVA

(1982)

It has always been my dream to deal with theatre a bit more than as a mere spectator. I was looking for a way to interconnect singing, movement, dancing and playing musical instruments.

In 2001 I started to study English and music at the Faculty of Education in Brno. In Brno I also met Adéla Kratochvílová with whom I later cooperated on a juggling performance “Úlety”. Since that time I have been juggling, which has become not only my enjoyable hobby but also an untraditional means of theatre presentation and self-realization.

In 2005, after I finished my studies at the Faculty of Education, I was accepted to study at the doctoral program of the Faculty of Sports Studies. Juggling and its positive impact on development of particular components of personality, especially of children with special learning disabilities, is the subject of my research project.

Occasionally, I perform as a clown, lead juggling workshops, teach English and translate various texts.

Since 2006 I have been teaching juggling at the Masaryk University in Brno.

Furthermore, I cooperate with a German juggler Detlef Vogt on performances of fire juggling and other projects.

If I manage to walk through life on the path of music, theatre and juggling, I will be happy…
